"Leaving" is a collection of songs written over the course of a few years and focus on the idea of transitions and being in a liminal space. It is meant to be as much of a goodbye to somethings as it is a greeting to others. "Leaving" was recorded in early 2017 at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC.
FROM BULL CITY RECORDS PRESENTS:
I first became aware of S.E. Ward through show flyers advertising some of my favorite Chapel Hill and Carrboro haunts. The more her name popped up, the more I became intrigued. Whispers of her songwriting talent began to ripple through the music community. Our mutual friend, Al Riggs, officially introduced Sarah and I after a stack of stunning demos were sent over to the shop.
On the Leaving EP, Sarah's drifting, introspective lyrics are appropriately buoyed by a beautiful and haunted music that's surprisingly well-balanced with a heavy-ish rock slant. There's even a low dose of a psychedelic fuzz and drone, so it's no wonder I was so drawn to it. Being somewhat taken with this batch of songs, I'm ecstatic that Sarah and her band were interested in working with BCRP. Fans of Sharon Van Etten, Magnolia Electric Co., Damien Jurado, Hand Habits and Angel Olsen take particular notice! This band has places to go, so make sure you put one of their upcoming shows on your calendar. Thanks for reading and listening and please don't forget to support our artists. -chaz.

Great songs covered by great artists, all to benefit a place we treasure. And you’ll likely discover someone new to follow. What’s stopping you? jima53
No words to describe this. I believe if you like Spirit of the Beehive, you will like this band. Other highlights are Plants, And Again and Pretty Sure. So much good music out there. JerPz
Feminist garage post punk. With titles like "Glue Sniffer", "Pissed" and title track, these are girls behaving badly. But there's also a 60s girl band sensitivity that ameliorates any potential offense with a harmony and melodic sense not normally found in this genre. And there's humour too, great album. agutterfan
Chiming guitars, driving percussion, swirling synths, and bittersweet lyrics add up to winning indie pop for this Scandinavian group. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 10, 2018
